Elective Orthopaedics

Edinburgh Foot and Ankle Surgical Unit

Patients are referred from across Scotland to the Edinburgh foot and ankle surgical unit. The service has developed from foundations laid at the hospital by surgeons of an earlier generation, each world renowned - Anderson, Mitchell, Fulford and Souter. Since 1997, four surgeons have dedicated a significant proportion of their time to the foot and ankle service. We are fortunate to have a Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics and a Bio-engineering Unit. In addition we have developed a close liaison with members of the Department of Podiatry at Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh.
